Devon's 1st Christmas

Devon & I left for my mom's house in Ft. Worth a few days before Christmas.
Devon's first snow - on Christmas Eve!
It was a family tradition for my father to read "The Night Before Christmas" to my siblings and me before we went to bed on Christmas Eve. Luckily, Matt made it to my mom's house despite all the snow and was able to start the same tradition with Devon.
Christmas morning! Devon dug into his stocking & loved all the little toys he found inside!
This was also the first time Devon opened presents... he loved ripping the paper off!
We had to take a little break from all the unwrapping of gifts for some breakfast!
The next day was Devon's first airplane ride! He was exhausted from all the pre-boarding activity & fell asleep very soon after take-off.
But, he was awake soon enough & we had lots of fun keeping him entertained. He really loved ripping up the SkyMall magazine!
Christmas with Matt's mom's family was next... here he is having fun with Grandpa.
Devon met his Great Grandma & Grandpa for the first time, and they had a great time getting to know each other.
The adults were assembled in a circle for the exchanging of gifts, and Devon was the "center of attention"... he got to roll around in the center of the circle in the very same walker Matt had when he was a baby. Devon thought it was great fun!

Just hangin out.
The next day we left for the cabin in Twain Harte, and celebrated Christmas with Matt's dad's family. Devon was spoiled with lots of gifts.
The Boys
Does it get any cuter than this?
Playing with Grammy & Grandpa
We decided to take advantage of the time in the mountains with a little snowboarding. This would be my first time, so while I was taking a lesson, Matt & his cousin, Jason, did the real thing.
After the lesson & some food, Matt, Jason & I had time for one run down the mountain together. Jason got some pictures & video of me falling down a lot, and Matt stuck with me while I slowly worked my way down.
Matt the instructor.
I'm sure this didn't last long...
While I was "eating snow," Devon was sleeping on Grammy's lap.
Matt, me & Jason. (My legs were so sore I could barely stand up at this point.)
During our stay in California, Devon slept in the very same playpen his 3rd cousin, Emily, slept in when she was a baby!
Matt was nice enough to oblige me in posing for this pic outside the cabin, even though he said he wasn't "camera ready."
Our New Year's Eve ride...
...to pick up pizza! (New Year's isn't quite as eventful when you have a kid.)
We headed back to Ft. Worth the next day... Devon loved looking out the window of the plane at take-off.
Plastic cups can keep him entertained for quite a while...
Sticking our tongues out at each other...
Gotta love the face...
Next it was Christmas at my mom's house with all my siblings & their families. This is Devon with all his cousins.
After being on a plane and being held all day, he was very happy to have a little "freedom" in his jumper while he opened presents.
My nephew Catch thinks Matt is the best thing since sliced bread.
All the cousins waiting to open gifts.
The next day we had a surprise birthday party for my mom, and what a surprise it was! We were glad she had no clue what was going on.

My mom was so touched, she started crying. My favorite moment was when she realized it was a surprise party & the first thing she said was, "You dirty birds!"

Matt left for Austin the next day while Devon & I stayed in Ft. Worth to spend a couple more days with my mom & grandmother. When we finally got home, Devon did a lot of sleeping. We had a very eventful Christmas holiday!
